15 Ways You Can Use Eucalyptus Oil Today
Eucalyptus essential oil is one of my very favorites and it's an incredibly useful and powerful oil for everything from invigorating the body to disinfecting wounds and surfaces. If you have this oil on hand here are 15 simple ways you can put it to good use today.
Energizer - My favorite thing about eucalyptus oil is its fresh and invigorating smell. Eucalyptus oil does actually invigorate the body so it's fabulous to use in the shower or bath when you need a boost waking up. Add a couple of drops to your bath water or in a shallow dish add a couple of drops to a tablespoon of baking soda and place in the bottom of your shower.
Soothe Ear aches - Did you know eucalyptus has pain relieving qualities? Rub on the bone behind your ear for pain relief. (Remember don’t ever use essential oils inside the ears, eyes or nose)
Relieve Chest Congestion - Eucalyptus is famous for opening airways and relieving chest congestion. Diffuse to aid breathing or place a few drops in fractionated coconut oil and rub on the chest.
Mood Booster - This oil helps to lift moods. I like to diffuse it in the morning when kids have to get up for school and can be cranky.
Pain Relief for Sore Muscles/Joints - Add a couple of drops to lotion or fractionated coconut oil and apply topically to painful muscles or joints.
Sinus Decongestant - Diffuse or breathe straight from the bottle to open sinuses. Place 2-3 drops into a mug of hot water and inhale the warm steam.
Reduce Coughing - Diffuse and dilute with fractionated coconut oil and rub on chest to loosen mucous and relieve coughing.
Sore Throat Relief - Place a drop in a shot glass of warm water and gargle to soothe sore throats.
Disinfect Surfaces and Air - Eucalyptus is anti-microbial and is fantastic to use in household cleaner recipes. Diffuse to clean the air of impurities.
Use as Mouthwash - Kill germs in the mouth and freshen breath. I place 1 drop in a shot glass of water. Rinse and spit out.
Asthma Relief - Eucalyptol is anti inflammatory can help relieve symptoms of asthma. Diffuse or breathe straight from the bottle.
Repel Insects - Place a few drops on cotton balls and place in areas of your home where insects are a problem. Also use as in ingredient in your home made bug repellent.
Eliminate Odors - Stinky dinner? Stinky Garbage? Stinky Shoes? Diffuse to clean and freshen the air. Add a couple of drops to wool dryer balls to freshen your laundry.
Spot Remover - Eucalyptus is a highly effective spot remover. Test on fabrics before you go all out and start with a diluted mixture.
Wound Treatment - Eucalyptus is antimicrobial and antiseptic and perfect for treating cuts, scrapes and sores. Make your own wound salve with eucalyptus and aloe vera.
