“There’s got to be a better way...”

That is exactly what I said! I had to believe that there was a way to "Do what you love & love what you do!" But I was seriously not finding it. Don't get me wrong, I was doing very well and even thinking this thought had me feeling massive guilt because things were so good. I had built a very successful family business, I was my own boss and I was providing a very good service for my community. But if I was honest with myself, it just wasn't inspiring my soul. Have you ever felt deep down that you know that there has to be something out there for you to do with your life that provides for your family but also lights you up down to your very core? Doesn't everyone want that? Don't we all owe it to ourselves to at least try?

Despite trying to free myself with my own company, I was still doing corporate work and as I got older I realized that there was more to my identity than what I could do with my employable skills. I had passions about things outside of the workplace, but truthfully, I didn't believe I could do them for work and make a living that would support my family so I just considered them hobbies. The more I realized that I really would rather be spending my time on the things that inspired me I really started exploring other options. Was it possible to switch gears this late in life? All I knew at that time was that if it was I wanted to give it a try.

When I was younger I really wanted to be a nurse. Honestly, I just can't handle the blood and yucky stuff. But I always had a passion for health, well being and helping people who didn't feel well. When I went into a business career I tucked that part of me away, but it never disappeared. Actually, I think it was fighting pretty hard to get out and that's where this longing for something more came from.
